Variety Cichlids is very sensitive to the issues of online privacy and electronic security. As we establish and maintain an online relationship with you, we want you to know we will always do whatever possible to ensure a secure and private environment to maintain your unquestioned trust.

At Variety Cichlids, we are committed to honoring and respecting your individual privacy. The following paragraphs describe our privacy policies regarding the personal information you provide us as well as information we collect about how our visitors use our site.

Email: We believe that your email address is private information and you have our assurance that we do not rent or sell your email address to anyone.
We use your email address to send you order-related emails, like shipping confirmations, as well as informational/sale newsletters.

We will always try to contact you by phone if we have a question about an order you placed. If we are unable to reach you by phone, we may also try to contact you by email.

You may opt out at any time from any or ALL newsletters in the series, either online or by using the links provided in every newsletter issue.

Returns / Refunds

Guarantee & DOA Policy: Losses in transit are rare employing our shipping techniques. We guarantee live arrival if shipments arrive on schedule, provided the following procedure is observed. Air shipments must be picked up within 2 hours of arrival at destination airport. Shipments via delivery services must be unpacked and processed upon delivery. All claims must be reported to us within 2 hours. We will apply full credit for these DOA losses. Losses due to carrier delay or mishandling must be filed with the airline. If no airline claim is filed you will not be entitled to their credit and Variety Cichlids will demand full payment of the invoice. All invoices must be satisfied according to the terms of sale as printed on the invoice. In these cases the fish will need to be inspected and confirmed by the courier's representative on the day of arrival and a digital image of the specimen, in the unopened bag, needs to me be submitted within that 2 hour period. DOA means dead when arriving to the destination and not after the fish has been put into the tank. No credit will be given due to the negligence of the carrier or the customer.

Credit: Credit will be given for the livestock, if there is confirmation by the courier of DOA's. All credits will be counted towards the next order.
Credit will be for the livestock only, not for shipping charges, box charges, etc. There are no cash refunds. There is no live arrival guarantee on international orders unless previously discussed with Variety Cichlids.

Order Cancellation: In situations where, through no fault of Variety Cichlids or the carrier, an order or any portion of an order is cancelled or otherwise refused by the customer AFTER the order has been processed, bagged, boxed and delivered to a carrier, the following charges shall be assessed to the customer: 1) any freight/carrier charges which might have been incurred, 2) all applicable box/packing charges, 3) all applicable heat pack charges and 4) a restocking charge on all returned items equal to 25 per cent of the amount actually invoiced for the items.

Shipping

Freight Charges: Air shipments are always sent freight collect. If collect charges are not possible (some international carriers) we can prepay with special advance arrangements. Shipments using a delivery carrier to your door are either freight prepaid or freight inclusive in pricing.

Air Carriers: Air shipments are made in good faith via best possible carriers and routings. Customer must always pick up fish at destination within 2 hours of arrival. Variety Cichlids cannot guarantee delivery time or be responsible for inconveniences or losses caused by carrier delay.

Delivery Services: Shipments via delivery services are made in good faith
with next day service. Typical deliveries are by 5:00 P.M. Variety
Cichlids cannot guarantee delivery time or be responsible for inconveniences or losses caused by carrier delay.

Prices: FOB Tampa, Florida, USA All quoted in US dollars.

Document Fees: Any health certificates, phytosanitary certificates, wildlife inspection fees, bank and currency clearance charges, etc. are billed at cost.

In any and all cases not specifically waived in advance, customer shall be responsible for the entire cost of shipping his order, whether such shipment is made via air freight or via any of the various forms of door-to-door service.

Box Types: Single box is standard Florida fish box size. It is adequate for normal use, particularly within the United States or Canada.

Double box is larger, holding more products. It has qualities of having superior insulation properties and larger interior volumes over the single.
It is recommended for normal use, especially long transit shipments. It is cheaper per unit box charge, although some international carriers charge dimensional weight ratings, which may make the larger box more expensive freight-wise on international flights.

Box Weight: Single box unit averages 15 lbs. (7 kilos) approximately. Large boxes unit averages 30 lbs. (14 kilos).

Box Dimensions: 17" x 17" x 10" single box; 27" x 19" x 13" double box.

Box Charges Single: Single box is $4.50 for standard packing. Single box
for intercontinental long transit routing or custom high-density packaging is $5.50.

Box Charges Double: Double $8.50 standard packaging. Double box for intercontinental long transit routing or custom high density packaging is $9.50.
